Breathing In is a 2023 supernatural horror movie about a wounded general in 1901 South Africa who seeks refuge with a woman and her daughter, only to uncover the sinister truth behind their eerie survival.
Synopsis: 1901, South Africa. In the waning, blood-soaked days of the Second Anglo-Boer War, a wounded Boer General seeks refuge in a remote farmhouse. There, he is taken in by Anna, a skilled herbalist, and her strange, otherworldly daughter, Annie. As a storm rages outside, Anna’s remedies work miracles on his injuries, yet unease grips him. Annie, pale and hauntingly beautiful, moves with an unnatural grace, her hollow eyes hinting at secrets too dark to name. The General begins to suspect that their survival in such an unforgiving landscape is no mere coincidence. Something is deeply wrong with the girl, and Anna’s doting care masks a sinister purpose. As the hours stretch into night, the truth will force him to confront the horrifying price they’ve paid to endure – and the role he is meant to play in their survival.
