Synopsis: For as long as residents can remember, the housing projects of Chicago’s Cabrini-Green neighborhood were haunted by a chilling urban legend: a supernatural killer with a hook for a hand, summoned by those daring enough to repeat his name five times into a mirror. Now, a decade after the last Cabrini towers were demolished, visual artist Anthony McCoy and his partner, gallery director Brianna Cartwright, move into a luxury loft in a gentrified Cabrini, now a haven for upwardly mobile millennials. With Anthony’s painting career stagnating, a chance encounter with a Cabrini-Green old-timer reveals the horrifying truth behind the Candyman myth. Desperate to reclaim his place in the Chicago art scene, Anthony delves into the macabre history in his studio, unwittingly unlocking a gateway to a dark past. This decision unravels his sanity and ignites a terrifying spree of violence, setting him on a collision course with his own fate.
