Grafted is a 2024 body horror movie about an awkward but brilliant Chinese student who wins a scholarship to a prestigious New Zealand university, only to carve her path to popularity – one bloody body at a time.
Synopsis: Chinese scholarship student Wei arrives in New Zealand to pursue medical research at a prestigious university, hoping for a fresh start. Shy, introverted, and burdened by a genetic facial birthmark, she faces constant rejection from her socialite cousin Angela and her circle of glamorous friends. Determined to rewrite her future, Wei delves into her late father’s unfinished research – a groundbreaking skin grafting procedure that could heal her disfigurement. However, as her experiments spiral out of control, Wei’s obsession grows dangerous. Consumed by desperation, she becomes unhinged, willing to silence anyone who stands in her way, even if it means sacrificing her humanity.
