In My Mother’s Skin is a 2023 folk horror movie about a young girl who, in desperation to save her dying mother, seeks help from a deceptive fairy – unleashing a sinister force that hungers for their destruction.
Synopsis: As World War II draws to a bloody close in the Philippines, a wealthy family finds themselves trapped in their secluded mansion, surrounded by Japanese soldiers spiraling into desperation. Whispers spread that the family patriarch, Aldo, has stolen Japanese gold and hidden it nearby – a secret that could mean their death if uncovered. Determined to save his family, Aldo leaves to seek help from the Americans, but his absence casts a dark shadow of fear and doubt. The family’s hope dwindles as the mother’s health rapidly declines. In a moment of desperation, young Tala turns to a cunning flesh-eating fairy for aid. However, the creature, cloaked in false promises, harbors its own sinister hunger. With danger closing in from all sides, Tala’s fateful choice threatens to doom them all.
