Mermaid is a 2025 creature feature horror movie about a struggling addict who discovers a wounded mermaid. As word spreads, his obsession with protecting her leads to deadly consequences.
Synopsis: Doug is a lonely, down-and-out Florida addict, barely holding on. Divorced and aimless, he shares custody of his young daughter while spiraling after losing his job at a strip club – where he cared for fish, the only creatures more trapped than him. With nowhere left to turn, he takes his boat into the Gulf, ready to end it all. However, just as despair takes hold, he finds something impossible – a wounded mermaid, barely alive. Seeing her as a sign, he hauls her home, sheltering her in his bathtub, naming her Destiny. As he nurses her back to health, a fragile bond forms, giving him a purpose he never had. However, secrets don’t stay buried for long. When word of Destiny spreads, Doug must face a brutal truth: if he wants to save her, he’ll have to fight for her survival.
