Mother, May I? is a 2023 psychological horror movie about Emmett, who is plunged into a nightmare when his fiancé begins to eerily mimic his deceased mother, pushing him to the brink of madness.
Synopsis: Emmett plans to clean out and flip his recently deceased mother’s house – get in, get out, and bury any lingering pain from when she abandoned him as a child. However, Anya, his fiancée, sees it differently. She believes confronting the past is the key to their future, so she convinces him to take mushrooms, hoping it will unlock the door to his trauma. As they trip, something strange happens: Anya starts mimicking his mother’s behavior – her tone, her gestures, everything. When Emmett wakes up the next morning, sober, Anya is still trapped in the role of the woman who hurt him. Is this just a twisted game Anya’s playing, or has his mother’s spirit taken hold of her? Desperate to understand, Emmett faces a nightmarish dilemma: confront the past, or lose the woman he loves forever.
