The Domestic is a 2022 psychological horror movie where a couple’s lives spiral into terror after hiring the daughter of their deceased housekeeper, awakening dark secrets that threaten to destroy everything they hold dear.
Synopsis: Kat and Tumi, a seemingly happy married couple, hire Blessing, the daughter of their recently deceased housekeeper, as their new domestic helper. However, it quickly becomes apparent that Blessing has deeply embraced her mother’s African traditions – traditions that once haunted Kat and left her traumatized. Despite her efforts to distance herself from this cultural legacy, the weight of her past relentlessly creeps back into her life. As old fears resurface, dark and macabre forces awaken within their home, threatening to unravel their lives. Destruction brews from within, as Kat finds herself entangled in a web of ancestral secrets that could shatter their fragile reality. With each passing day, the line between past and present blurs, leading to an inevitable confrontation with the darkness she thought she had left behind.
