What Is Buried Must Remain is a 2022 found footage horror movie about a group of filmmakers documenting a haunted house, only to unleash ancient, otherworldly forces locked in a deadly war for the land’s soul.
Synopsis: Alaa, Shadi, and Lara are three ambitious young filmmakers trapped in a Lebanese settlement camp for Syrian refugees. Desperate for fame and an escape, they hatch a daring plan to document a supposedly haunted house on the town’s edge. Once home to a French colonist who infamously murdered his family, the house has since rotted into a cursed relic, shrouded in local lore. Believing that capturing its vengeful ghosts will make them viral sensations, the trio sets out to document the paranormal. However, Alaa, fixated on the project, sees it as his sole chance to escape Lebanon’s suffocating grip. As they delve deeper into the house’s dark history, the line between myth and reality begins to blur, and the world around them begins to unravel, trapping them in a nightmare they can’t escape.
