Hatching is a 2022 body horror movie about a young gymnast who nurtures a mysterious egg, only to unleash a grotesque creature embodying her repressed fears and her mother’s relentless quest for perfection.
Synopsis: Twelve-year-old Tinja, a dedicated gymnast, lives in the shadow of her image-obsessed mother, who curates their family’s life into a flawless illusion of suburban bliss for her adoring blog followers. Beneath the polished facade, Tinja’s desperate need for approval festers. When she discovers a wounded bird in the woods, her compassion leads her to an eerie discovery – a strange egg. Tinja secretly nurtures it, cradling it like a fragile secret, until it hatches into something beyond imagination. The creature becomes her confidant and protector, but its presence spirals into a living nightmare, exposing the dark cracks beneath their picture-perfect world. As the horror grows, Tinja is thrust into a twisted reality her mother refuses to acknowledge – one where the pursuit of perfection might destroy them all.
